Alice Arena is a longtime community organizer and president of the Fore River Residents Against the Compressor Station (FRRACS.) When the energy giant, Spectra, came to Weymouth, MA in 2015, they said they just wanted to put up a little garden shed. As Alice discovered through citizen-led research, that shed would take up over four acres in the environmentally sensitive and overburdened Fore River Basin, and was a fracked gas transmission compressor station. FRRACS began canvassing, educating their town on the dangers of this proposal and working with our elected officials to fight to stop its siting. Alice and FRRACs continue to lead the charge against a compressor station in Weymouth.
