Marika serves as the Connecticut Community Organizer for Slingshot, working with community members to address local environmental concerns. As a social impact professional, her philosophy is rooted in the belief that all movements for justice begin with relationship building. Marika brings over a decade of experience in relational organizing, program management, and legislative advocacy. As a lifelong resident of Greater Hartford, she aspires to create positive, lasting change across the region. She has partnered with community leaders, faith communities, advocates, and elected officials to organize on issues including: public education funding reform, protecting safety net services through fiscal policy reform, and funding brownsite remediation after the close of an incinerator plant in Hartford, CT. Marika earned her Masters from UConn School of Social work with a concentration in Community Organizing. She earned her Bachelors from Wheaton College (IL) in Psychology & Sociology with a concentration in Social Justice & Inequality.
